There
is truth in the slogan ‘You can’t
train the brain if you don’t include the
food’, and this is the reason that Thorold
Secondary School has recently instituted a Breakfast
Club. The Breakfast Club is supervised
by staff members assisted by student volunteers
and its goal is to provide healthy nutrition to
any student who wants it at the beginning of the
school day. Each of our students, whether they
have inadequate resources at home or they had
to leave home early for a team practice, deserves
to start the day with something nutritious to
eat.
The Breakfast Club operates daily from 7:50 until
8:15 a.m. in Room 149, beside the Family Studies Room. Students are provided
with cereal, toast and juice on a regular basis.
This is supplemented by granola bars, muffins,
bagels, hard-boiled eggs, etc. as are available.
YOU
CAN HELP!
Did you find a great sale on cereal? Did you try
out a new flavour of juice that wasn’t a
hit at home? Donations to the program in terms
of food or money are most gratefully accepted
and can be arranged by contacting teacher and
Breakfast Club Coordinator, Mrs. Jennifer Barker.
